State of the SPOT Union - 2006 11. January 2006
Posted by Nerdmaster in : Cellphones, Notebook and Laptops, Review , add a commentIt was exactly a year ago when I posted the state of the union piece for 2005. A year later, MSN Direct has pushed out more content, a new watch and the Oregon Scientific weather station. 2005 wasn’t quite as revolutionary for SPOT as many had hoped; it was more like a quiet regrouping. 2006 promises to show more organic growth for the platform as the content offering matures and new devices force Microsoft to re-evaluate the way subscription data is managed.

Microsoft Windows Vista SideShow - In-Depth (pics) 10. January 2006
Posted by Nerdmaster in : Cellphones, Notebook and Laptops, Review , add a commentWindows Vista SideShow is a secondary display that’s going to be built into notebooks and Tablet PCs in the second half of this year. The display can be used to view email, calendar, and other Outlook data, in addition to light gaming and other gadgets. SideShow displays are self powered, so they work even when the host device is turned off. This is just the first step though. The platform allows for SideShow to be built into other devices as well, like keyboards, phones, display casings and remote controls.
